Ms.
Carter’s passion for the arts was rooted in her hometown community of Waterloo, IA, where she was cultivated into performing through community productions.

At the age of 4, Ms. Carter began singing in the Antioch Baptist Church Choir, of which she was an active member for 21 years. Under the direction of Terry Pearson, Ms. Carter was heavily involved in African, Ballet, and Modern Dance, and performing for Dance Recitals, Kwanzaa Ceremonies, and events held at the Waterloo Recreational Center of the Arts.

After graduation, Kimberly served her hometown community as a Music Teacher at Central Middle School for three years.  The summer of 2000 was when Ms. Carter was hired as music teacher of Woodridge Elementary School in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Kimberly also served as a Piano/Voice Instructor of the Conservatory of Fine Arts in Decatur, GA. For seven years, Ms. Carter has directed and ensemble of over 70 young performers known as the “Woodridge Choristers,” and was nominated Dekalb County School’s 2003 Teacher of the Year.

Ms. Carter plans to continue to serve her community through the gift of arts, and is grateful to all instructors and coordinators like Debra Carr that helped along the way.
