Dr. Lynette Danley is
an assistant professor in the Department of
Educational Leadership and Policy and Ethnic
Studies Program at the University of Utah. Her
research interests include the exploration of
academic and social experiences of women and
people of color in higher education;
particularly the recruitment and retention of
Black women faculty members and students in
academia. In addition to surveying strategies
for successful navigation of the academy, her
current scholarship examines and applies
Critical Race Feminism epistemologies and
methodological approaches by using narratives
and counter stories to share the diverse lived
experiences of traditionally under-served
populations in higher education.
Lynette recently
received the College of Education Outstanding
Service Award, and started
a mentor program for Black high school girls,
the first in the state of Utah,
called Black Butterflies.
Lynette
started her
tenure-track appointment
with the University of Utah in July 2004 and
prior to that she was
a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Visiting
Professor at the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign for two years (2002-2004).
