Though she now calls South Florida “home”, Tisha Hyter will always love the city of her birth: Des Moines, Iowa! Tisha and her husband Michael are parents to five children and she feels blessed to have traveled extensively with them to wonders such as Bermuda, France, Maui, Mexico, South Africa and the United Kingdom. While she successfully climbed the corporate ladder for companies such as FedEx and Verizon Wireless, in 2005, she realized her most cherished professional dream: to be a stay-at-home mom.

Since then, there’s rarely been a time when she hasn’t served as a Board Member or Volunteer for the local PTA; Big Brothers, Big Sisters; Miramar Cultural Arts Park; Honey Shine Mentoring; and more. Recently, Tisha answered the call to use her love for Jesus to serve part-time on the staff at her church, First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale, where she works as the Director of Faith In Action. Tisha Hyter was Miss Black Iowa 1990.
